To all who read Andy's page:
July 14th Andrew called. He has been in the field for quite some time now. He figures he will be there for a week or two more. He has been unable to respond to any letters or e-mails. He is ok and wanted all to know that. Thank-you all for writing to Andy, praying for the guys, and caring.
Thanks from Andrew and his family

hello again everyone. time for what has been my monthly update i suppose. not too much new here, hasn't really been quiet here but at the same time i don't have much to say. i got promoted earlier in the month and the platoon finally got its replacements. not much else, so i guess that is all for now. thanks for everything again everyone and ill try to keep in touch.

5/22/05
Hello everyone, figured it was about time to update this thing. We are getting back into the swing of things here back at the dam, though it is obviously a bit different. I would like to thank everyone for the support, especially Nick for the website, it looks great and I am sure everyone appreciates it. I have been trying to get back to everyone, I've received quite a few letters and Moto Mail in the last week or so, so I am sorry if it takes a while to get back to you. I have also been sending in pictures of the memorials we had and some other ones we found of everyone so keep an eye out for that stuff. Well that is about all for now, thanks again and I look forward to getting a hold of you all sooner or later. Andy (new pics are below)

4.19.05
Hello everyone, sorry I have been neglecting this thing a bit but here goes. Everything is well here, we've been keeping busy. Hopefully the other guys or myself will update this thing with some pictures soon if we have not already. Summer is rolling in, hit 105 the other day and I hear that is just getting warm around here... joy. Well, that is about all for now, I'll try to get an e-mail or two out in the next few days here.

Andy is currenty stationed in Iraq.
Hello everyone, just stopping by again with a couple new pictures. Turns out this may be one of the last times I will be able to get on here because our location in country is a bit remote (i.e. no Internet) but we will see, I will get a mailing address out soon enough. That is all for now and thank you for all the messages and support. Take care everyone.
Hey everyone, things are going fine here. Winter in the desert sure is fantastic... I don't have much to say as of yet, we are just training and training and training. These are pics of me and the gusy gotta go.

Hey Andy. Figured I'd give you an update. Jen just moved out to Cali, which blows. Casting director yada yada. Adam just got a job today flying all over the country taking photographs for something or other. This means though he'll be in Cbus when you get back with me, so I think we are planning on getting a place and you just moving in when you get back. Justin is moving in less than two weeks, boo. Hmm, comfest was last weekend, that was a hippie lovin' blast...from what I can remember. Going to Greece and italy in about a month, wheeee! I've been actually working out AND eating healthy at the same time so i don't have a beer gut hanging over my....well i'll be naked on the beaches, let's be honest. Blinding people, but naked none the less. I dunno, that's about it, see you in a couple months. Good luck with the excursions later on.
Ben

Andy, How are things going? I am thinking of you often and praying for you. I think it is hot here, I can't imagine how hot it is there! Work is OK, I still enjoy the college life better though! It is hard growing up!!! I am sure when you return you will have some stories to share. Boy I can't believe Aaron will start college this year. My parents keep me posted on Adam and how he is doing in baseball. Be careful and stay safe. Jay

It is great seeing your pictures - you look absolutely incredible. Keep us up to date about yourself when you can. Its great hearing from you.
Take care, Grady

5.30.05
Hey Drew,
We, ( Katie, Coin, Caleb, Joshua, and myself), just saw your mom at Adam's ball game. My brother -in-law plays for the same team as him. Aunt Sue told us the latest news from your perspective and we thank God for your safety. We and others are praying for you and the others your with, including thier families as well. We hope to send you some pictures of the boys soon. Oh, we saw the article in the paper about the twins run in your honor.
Love you,

Hello Andy,
Ready for a prayer from a distant relative? Your Aunt Linda and I are Cousins (I guess that makes us second cousins) and she's been keeping me posted. So very sorry to hear of the recent tradedy in your unit. Prayers from SW Wisconsin are coming your way. I remember your Dad as a kid, but he was younger so he probably has little recall of me. Your Grandpa Bill and my Dad were brothers and we used to visit fairly frequently. Just wanted you to know that some of the prayers that you are getting are coming from some people you least expected. Your fighting a hard battle. Hang in there. You are thougt of often.
Mary

5.18.05
Andy: as with all of Dustin's & Erdy's buddies in the 3/25, i only "know" you thru Kristin (my daughter) & Ashley (erdy's fiancee). But thru that connection, you were all "our" Marines when you deployed....and today, even more so. I can think of no words that can temper the pain regarding the loss of Dustin & Erdy & your fellow Marines. I can only say that everyone here wants you home safe.....i'm sure you're hearing this every day within the unit, but i can think of no better words.....keep your focus, trust your training, have faith in your fellow Marines, and when the time comes...strike hard. Andy,
Sent a second video...If this doesn't show how white I am, nothing will. Justin says that when I win the lottery, I must have this video playing 24/7 on top of my house. Glad to hear you got to talk to Kristine.
Ben

5.16.05
Hey Andy. Got some pics off of Justins camera. Just a bunch of random pics...including Kristine sliding down our stairs, and our recent "Olympics". I'm sending a video of it too, I don't think you'll be able to get it, but I figured it's worth a shot. Of course, I win in it. Keep safe. (see pics below)
Ben

5.16.05
Hi Sweetheart,
We just talked to you today. You sounded better. I know this is going to be a painful voyage, but you will be ok. I pray that you guys find strenght in one another to try and heal. When you were little I could usually give you some explanation for a given situation--sorry I can't this time-- other than to say it was God's plan. And maybe not now, but someday you will be ok with that. We love you lots and miss you like crazy. Be safe
love Mom

5.16.05
Hey Andy, keep getting news of the hell you're going through, not sure I know how else to put it. This message has no point except that me and Justin were talking and he reminded me about when we came back from Zeno's and walked three miles in that snowstorm. My drunk butt tackling you guys and then bitching about my arm which was still in a sling, then proceeding to do it again. Anyways, I bout pissed myself when I remembered when you went "marine" on us and we lost you til you started making fun of us through the window and i blasted you in the face with that snowball through the screen.....Best throw ever. Don't forget that you chose to 'sleep" there after getting hit. So worth it to walk the extra mile home in exchange for pinging you in the face through the screen. Anyways, no real point to that story, but I forgot about it, thought you might like to be reminded. Stay safe, I'd would pray to God they'd give you guys some down time after all of this. See you soon
Ben

5.16.05
Hey Andy-
We are all supporting you and have you in our hearts. Thank you for what you are doing. (Something that can not be said enough!!) Stay strong!! Keeping you in our prayers.
Your cousin- Beck

5.15.05
I was just talking to Adam, and he told me about your operation. Thank you for your dedication to our country. I am constantly thinking of you, and sure hoping for your return to Racine, so we can go out for a beer together, and share all the old memories of growing up. We had some great times. I was thinking of the trip to Florida, I sure enjoyed being with your family. I am working in Madison, and of course trying to stay out of trouble, I guess that means I am grouwing-up. Take care & keep in touch. Your neighbor, Jay

5.13.05
Andy, I am so sorry for all you've been through, but please take care of yourself and your friends. I remember when I was young and was really stressed out about something, Grandpa would say, "It'll all come out in the wash." And it does, Andy, it does. Please take care. Love Auntie Linda

5.13.05
Andy,
I'm so sorry about your boy. Nothing I can say or do except pray, and prepare for the ridiculous time that will come when you get back. Zenos isn't really the same without smokin cigars and runnin out with you to eat 15 Donatos pizzas. Justin and I just bought some new CD's he's gonna put on the MP3 memory card you gave him and send it over along with some pics and letters. Everyone misses you, well now more than ever. Kristine talks about you constantly of course. Same ole' same ole around here, not sure if you'd want to hear about it or not. Just know we miss you and the pics, letters, music will be getting sent this weekend. Oh, I just planted flowers and peppers outside my windows. So apparently I've been officially listed as gay by the house and neighbors. They're just jealous of my skills of course. Stay safe.
Ben

5.12.05
Andy.. Dont know really what to say to you guys. This has to be so very difficult for all of you. There is not a day that goes by that I do not pray for you safe return, I could not amagine having to go through this pain again. This past week has been very difficult for everyone. Your girlfriend has helped so much even though all her grieving. I feel like I have lost so much of myself. But please do not let down or hang your head. Always keep him in your thoughts and kill those bastards for the sacrafice Dustin made. He thought the world of you boys, as I always will. But let him die honorably and get this job done and then return to us safely. Semper Fi, Kristin

Hey Andy, Adam here.
Just posted a message on the motomail. Forgot to tell you that we are still collecting stuff to send you. We should have the package on the way shortly. We are looking forward to hearing from you. Let us know if you want anything in particular in the package. I am sending the pictures i took with my parents over downtown. You be careful over there and take care. (pics at bottom)

Since I don't have my own private instructor to call upon we have started taking computer classes. Never thought we would go back to school at 75 and 86. So I am going to try getting a message to you. We miss you as everyone does and keep you in our prayers. We have 30 degree weather on April 23, it is Wisconsin, what else can we expect. Saw Aaron this morning and a picture of his prom gown, he is going to be as great looking as you and Adam were at your big dance. It doesn't seem possible that my three cookie cutter kids can all be grown up. YUCK! you did it to fast.
Love you and have my rosary around your picture as a constant prayer for your safety. Take care

Hey Andy, it was good to hear from you on the phone. It sucks cuz we know that we only have a few minutes and we can't exactly shoot the sh*t like normal. Obviously everyone misses you, hard to know how to express that briefly over a bad connection. Kristine misses you an absurd amount. Now that she's 21 we go out with her more often....Zeno's a couple times. We got a new neighbor, Nick. He replaced Chad and is probably more chill than me. Trees are finally getting some green on them, thank God. Justin is awaiting word on whether he got a job with the USPS, it's been delayed due to paperwork (gov't, who figured). But sounds like he might be going to Oklahoma, land of the....well i don't know what they have their, but he might also end up in like 30 other cities including Columbus. I on the other hand work 60-70 hours a week playhing with fish. YOu'd be amazed how many hot girls work with fish, it doesnt make any sense, but I don't complain. I can't think of anything else really. I guess a brief summary. Adam still with amita probably going to florida in the summer. Me single again and not being very successful with it - will be around here when you get back most likely. Justin, well who knows where he'll end up, hopefully either in Cbus or somewhere where there is a beach for me to lay on and get burned if i ever visit. Stay safe, under sand bags and camels and so forth. Everyone misses you. oh, and justin just bought a digital camera, so i'll get him to put pictures on real soon.

Andy it's Mike Johnson how are you doing in Iraq? Sorry it took so long to email you I just got back from Colorado. I checked out the pics on that website they are cool. I still can't believe you are in Iraq. Are you still training? I hope everything is going well there do you know when you are coming back. Email me back at zuagb00@hotmail.com whenever you get a chance. I wish I would have went up to Ohio to see you before you left but I'll definitely see you when you get back.
Take care,

Andy,
Our moms have been in close contact through work, so I’ve been able to get updates on where you’ve been. I hope everything is going as well as it can and that you’re making good decisions out there. My respect for you these days is through the roof and I can’t wait to see you when you get back. Take care and stay safe.

Hey Andy, here you're guarding a base? Hey, as far as I'm concerned, the less you move the better, so hopefully that's the case. Anywho, Adam wrote about Jeff, what a bunch of #($* ($$%. Apparently they have an FBI agent on the case. All I heard was they called the house that it happened at and they said "umm, there were alot of people here, but we were asleep" so i doubt it'll be long before they catch them. I started sampling for my job, last week it was below twenty and I was soaking wet....FUN. Hahaha, you saw camels, how very ridiculously expected. Last thing, Big Ten finale, OSU beat #1 Illinois in the last game to bust their perfect season. It would have been the first perfect season in Big Ten in 29 yrs. The ending was badass, We never led the whole game, crawled back within two with a minute left, we missed, then Illinois came down and got blocked by Dials. We were down 64-62 with 14 seconds left, timeout, then we came out rolled a screen and Sylvester drained a deep three for the win. HAHAHAH Screw you Illinois. It was a home game too, nationally televised and everyone stormed the court. That's about it, you try and stay cool and I'll try and stay warm. Stay safe, sleep under a pile of bullet proof vests...in a trench...in a bunker....under a camel.. like I would.
Ben

Andy,
Sorry I missed you this morning. I was sleeping, why weren't you? Where the heck were ya? Well I hope to hear from you again soon! Lots of love,
Leslie

Andy-
Long lost sister here - hope your vacation to Vegas was good! Scott and I owe you a ticket on that one - when you get back you can have one on us. Jack, Ethan and Shane are keeping me busy - Jack and Ethan just finished four skiing lessons - (I know teach them to snowboard - not ski) but they won't teach them until they are a little older) I think they're ready to sign Ethan up for ski team - Jack is a much more technical skier (ie thinks about everything they tell him to do). Ethan is also gearing up for Indoor Soccer season followed by Spring outdoor - he is also already on the USA Gymnastics team (HA!) Shane - well is just Shane - he can already beat up the other two - he knows exactly what to do to get his way - BITE! Anyway we're thinking about you here - we'll send some pics in the next couple of days - oh yeah - WI over OSU - BBall - too bad.
Love Carrie

Andy,
I had such a great time in Vegas with you. I'm so glad that I finally got to see you! Don't forget, we're going back when I'm legal!!! I already miss you so much! Get back to us quickly, and remember everyone is thinking of you. Be careful and take care of yourself! I miss you and I love you!
Kristine

hey andy whats up? hope you had a good time in vegas. all is the same here. i hear you are headed out soon. if ya can let us know when and a place for mail if you know of one. i have some bad news, friday jeff and naggy were jumped coming back from cvs. naggy managed to get away with just a couple punches but jeff got it pretty good. shattered his front teeth with somethign other than a fist and broke his jaw. he had surgery today(sunday) and it is wired shut for 6-8 weeks. this was all because when jeff and naggy were walking by, jeff asked if he could see their puppy that was on the porch. i'll keep you posted. take care.

adam

Andy, it's been a long time bud. This is Steve out in Oregon, just bumbling through life doing that school thing. I hope all is well with you and want you to know my thoughts are with you. Other then that I'm still on the path of least resistance, taking opportunities as they are presented. I now find myself defined as a Mathematician and am quickly seeing that there is no money in it,except to sell out and become an actuary or some other non-fulfilling number crunching job. C'est la vie. Next time we cross paths we can exchange anecdotes to sum up the years that wouldn't be fitting for this arena. So stay safe and we'll reminisce later.
Steve

HI, ANDY. Sorry it has taken me so long to write...I don't like computers all that much. This isn't hard though. Expect too many notes now. We really miss you back here and think about you tons. I hope you are doing well and are having some fun. I'll write again soon. Be careful.

Leslie

Hi Sweetheart-
Dad is doing ok. May need to go in again, but I think we'll seek Milwaukee's opinion first. Ad is working hard at ball, I hope the books too. Aar is Aar what more can we say. Everyone at school wishes you well and be safe. Have a great time in Vegas. I put on a few pictures of the "Fam" just in case you foget how cute we all are. I know you are impressed with my "attachment" ability, but then I had a great teacher. Love you lots Drew -- Mom

Andy,
I swear I'm not retarded, but it took me like, 45 minutes to figure this whole thing out. So with that being said, I better make this good. It's definatly weird with you not around, I don't like it at all! So could you hurry back? Cause we have to go to Vegas soon, I know you're feelin me on that one, a little Roulette perhaps? Ben says you are leaving soon, so I wanted to tell you to be safe and try to keep smiling. We're thinking aboutcha. My Dad sends a Semper Fi, in true marine fashion, and wants me to pass along how proud he is of you, as am I. Ok, so hurry home so we can go gamble, but lets leave Ben and his unluckiness at home next time. I kid. So I guess there's only one thing left to say......You look REALLY REALLY Jolly in your picture!!! I love it. See you soon.
Jen

Hey Andy!
Just wanted to say hi. I found this quote that Kristine and I thought was a good one for you:
"The Buckeye tree represents strength and sturdiness because it grows where others cannot, it is difficult to kill, and it adapts to its circumstances."
Andy, you are a buckeye, be strong and safe.
Miss and love ya,
Cait

I think I'm doing this right but I almost forgot, well I did forget to tell you, I am trying to move into your house but I have to get out of my lease and then I would need to change my major cause pre-med and the energy level of that house wouldn't work I don't think. When I do move in, I believe, the pictures in the house will be under my care and partially mine. I was over there the other day and Justin said he felt Ben was going through his nesting phase, Ben was cleaning everything, sweeping, dusting. He spent 4 hours on the smallest room in the house, your bathroom, which did need it. He even dusted above the door, it was beautiful, I wish you could have seen it. I don't know if you were still here when the new shower got put in, that's a huge bonus, but you know how your front door sticks? I would have to call Ben, Adam or Justin to let me out of the house when I needed to go to school or work. I'd be like a puppy, but a puppy that cooks and cleans. I just wanted to update you on the usage of your room.
Everybody loves you and misses you, be as careful as you can be and I'm praying for you.

Andy,
I miss you lots, and I can't wait to see you!
Love ya,
Kristine

Andy!!!!!!!
I am missing going over to your house and being sneaky like a cat, stealing pictures isn't the same with you not around so I am writing this to tell you I will be suspending stealing pictures until you return. Ben gave me bruises the other night at the stube, we were trading punches and I lost. black and blue forever, Emily

Hi Andy,

The desert sounds like a good place to be this time of the year -- especially if you live where cold is made and sent off to other places!! Just in case you miss the snow, I'm sending along a picture of Scott throwing hot water into the air. At 20 below it turns to snow. : )

Been checking your site, and enjoying the pictures. If I could turn the time back 35 years I'd think I was looking at your Dad! Take care of yourself. Auntie Linda

Andy,

Hope all is well. enjoyed your company over the holidays. looking forward to seeing you after your tour is complete.

Be safe,
Gary & Jan

Wow. I feel special. I'm the first one to send you pictures!!! They happen to be from my missionary trip to Ireland.

Love ya!

Auntie JanA college professor, an avowed Atheist, was teaching his class. He shocked several of his students when he flatly stated that there is no God, the expression, "One Nation Under God", was unconstitutional, and further, he was going to prove there is no God.

Addressing the ceiling he shouted: "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform; I'll give you 15 minutes!"

The lecture room fell silent . You could have heard a pin fall. Ten minutes went by. Again he taunted God, saying, "Here I am, God. I'm still waiting." His countdown got down to the last couple of minutes when a young Marine just released from active duty and newly registered in the class walked up to the professor, hit him full force in the face, and sent him head over heals from his lofty platform. The professor was out cold! At first the students were shocked and babbled in confusion.

The young veteran took a seat in the front row and sat silent. The class fell silent....waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to, shaken. He looked at the young Marine in the front row. When he regained his senses and could speak he yelled, "What's the matter with you? Why did you do that?

"God was busy, He sent me."

Love ya Andy!!!
Auntie Jan

Andy:
I just thought I’d drop you a quick note and let you know how things are going. Kristan and I just got back from Whistler. The skiing pretty much sucked. It rained the whole time we were there and it was in the mid 40’s. So we made up for it by having a few extra drinks! Peggy watched the girls and they pretty much wore her out. She went to the inauguration ball and got snowed in at the airport. I think it was about 8-10 hours that she had to wait. So by the time she got back, she was way over tired and the girls took advantage of her, but that’s what grandchildren are for.

Up here in Clintonville, it was a whopping -13 this morning. I’m getting tired of this cold weather, but I think I’ll take that any day than anything over 100!

Hope all is well and we’ll write again in a few weeks.

God bless and we love you,
Eric, Kristan, and the girls
.

hi Andy it's me erik
i just decided to say hi
i hope you are doing well
please be safe and use your head

Sincerely,
Erik (the walking talking turtle)

Hey Andy,
The house is cold as usual. Everyones thinking about you. I don't know how reserved I should keep this being as it's being posted, so we'll just see how this goes. We are trying to get Emily to move in so that she can keep this place nice and laugh at every stupid joke that I say. She wants to do it, she's just trying to find a way to get out of her lease because her roommates are *($#&%#$(. I mean seriously, how is it feasible not to get along with her. Justin is currently bed ridden with some random illness. The fact that he had a fever on friday but chose to get wasted the whole weekend may not have helped the matter. ALthough we all know beer typically kills germs. There's some fair stories i want to tell and one you'll LOVE, but a few are pretty ignorant and i want to actually get this through. I hope you still have your phone because I"m gonna call you up and hopefully leave a message about one of the stories, it will make your week i promise. I"ll just say it involves me beating up the fridge, and Justin owing me at least a beer, if not a new car. Anywho, I'm planning on buying a digital camera so hopefully i'll get some pictures up in due time. Oh and thx for the SI calendar i "borrowed" from your room. You know we're thinking about you constantly, and we'll see you in 8 months or so. i'll write soon.
Ben

Andrew, just letting you know that we've got your back covered in prayer.
